This exhibition is a part of an annual series ‘Art as Experience 2012’ financed by Gorzow City Council and it is an effect of collaboration between Culture Promotion Association ‘Kamienica’, ‘Lamus’ Club and Terminal08.

Apparent Movement, also refered to as the Phi Phenonomen is described as an optical phenomenon that results in untrue or possibly misleading visual experiences, and refers to the juxtaposition of still images that in motion becomes a moving sequence.
My installation work culminates in clusters and patterns, constellations of small scale plastic figures, representing a form of individual and collective still movement, and at the core of my art lies the following questions:

What is the difference of individual and collective movement in private contra public space?
Do we posess any form of freedom of movement and physical expression in our everyday lifes?
Or are strings and infrastructures in place to navigate us through life, securing a mere collectiv generalised feeling of freedom?

I try to emphasise that even in a group we stand alone, that being part of a crowd does not necessarily mean that there is social community and togetherness.
I play with light and darkness and find it essential to create a balance between the positive and the negative, combining play with more serious underlying comments.
I concerned with the difference of being at afar from the art-work, an experience, and being up close, and I am curious to develop on ideas that seem and can be multi-layered in way of communication i.e. the work develops and evolves by viewing at different points, by distance and location.
The number 7 is re-occurring, and has an important role in my presentations, referencing the human cycle; the number of years our cells need to re-new. 7 is also a symbol of totality, creative perfection, a number mentioned in fairytales, in biblical and other philosophical and historical documents, as well as a number referenced in superstition, a number which transgresses time, place, religion, culture and country boundaries. 7 can always divide the number of figures used in my installations.
